From a commute accelerator to a patented portable drive.
- 01Origin
The problem, first-hand
Commuting across Mumbai on an ordinary bicycle, the founding team kept running into the same wall: every route to electric assistance meant giving up the bicycle you already owned, or handing it to a workshop for a day.
- 02R&D
Friction drive, done properly
Rather than rebuild a wheel or swap a rotor, the team went after the one mechanism that does not care what your bicycle is made of — a roller driving the tire surface directly.
- 03Patent
Fully patented drive mechanism
The mounting and tensioning mechanism is patented, covering the tool-free attachment that lets a single unit fit both front and rear wheels across frame types.
- 04Incubation
ISB Hyderabad and JITO
HOOK is incubated at ISB Hyderabad and affiliated with the JITO Angel Network, which brought both capital and a route to manufacturing partners.
- 05Today
Mumbai first, the World next
Demo rides are running in Mumbai and the first production allocation is open for preorder, ahead of a wider rollout across Indian cities.
